If you are irritated, as I have been in the past, by eighteenth century-style explanatory titles such as the one given to my last post, I would like to point out that many conventions which arise from 'inauthentic' instincts such as kitsch often in the course of habit turn out to be useful and are eventually employed in complete earnest.
